Medical Transcription Career Opportunities
Prerequisites
- Successful completion of a medical transcription training program. On~Time
Transcription recommends Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity (ADHI)
approved schools. Please refer to the ADHI website for more details. Mentorship
positions are considered and provided based on OTT need.
- Applicants are encouraged and consideration is given to independent contractors
with on-the-job experience in an acute care or speciality specific provider of a
minimum to greater than three (3) years experience.
Transcriptionist Requirements
- Seasoned knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, disease
processes, signs and symptoms, medications, and laboratory values.
- In-depth or broad knowledge of a specialty (or specialties) as appropriate.
- Knowledge of medical transcription guidelines and practices.
- Excellent skills in English usage, grammar, punctuation, and style.
- Ability to use an extensive array of professional reference materials.
- Ability to operate a personal computer (PC), word processing software, transcription
tools, and other equipment as specified, and to troubleshoot as necessary.
- Ability to work independently with minimal or no supervision.
- Ability to demonstrate and maintain a goal to provide an average production level
of 1,000 lines per day (5,000 lines over a 7-day period) OR 500 lines per day (2,500
lines per 7-day period). Work will be made available 24-hour/day, 7-days per week.
- Ability to concentrate.
- Excellent listening skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal or no supervision.
- Ability to demonstrate and maintain a goal to provide an average production level of

lines per 7-day period). Work will be made available 24-hour/day, 7-days per week.
- Ability to concentrate.
- Excellent eye, hand, and auditory coordination.
- Proven business skills (scheduling work, purchasing, client relations, billing).
- Ability to understand and apply relevant legal concepts (e.g., confidentiality, conflict of interest, etc.).
